You should contact your customer to determine their expectations on this
report. Some customers would prefer to see dimensions for everything
including hole locations. In my experience, the most common data required
for a FAIR is a listing all print dimensions and corresponding measurements
from a sample of one to five boards. The sample size is customer defined.
Items like laminate type and overall thickness, hole diameters, plating
thickness, solder resist type, ionic contamination and other test results
specified by the customer are also included on the report.

Subject: [TN] First Article Inspection of bare boards

Hi Technet,

One of our contracts requires us to perform a First Article Inspection for
every bare board that's manufactured for the first time. In my view a First
Article Inspection can mean anything between a very limited visual
inspection and an extensive audit of the boardvendor's manufacturing
process.
Is there (perhaps in IPC or Mil-specs) a clear description of what the term
First Article Inspection means, and what kind of product- or
processinspections should be performed ?
