Well, now you have heard from someone who cleans a no-clean flux.  Rockwell
Collins does it every day.  It is not hard to do, provided you pick the
right chemistry.  Our wave solder fluxes are Kester 922, 958 and 959.  Our
solder pastes are Indium SMQ-92J and Alpha UP-78M.  We are a high
performance electronics company and our products cannot tolerate failure.
We clean because we know we don't have the necessary controls or processes
in place to be truly no-clean.  We use the low solids fluxes and pastes so
that we eventually DO get those controls in place, we won't have to change
our base materials.  We do aqueous cleaning.  Our preferred material is
Kyzen Aquanox SSA for the in-lines and Alpha 2110 for the batch cleaners.
The cleaning process allows us to remove solder balls and allows a clean
surface for inspection and keeps our ICT people happy.
