Designer Council list members,

Printed Circuit Design could use your help in locating an author for an article
in the February 2002 issue of PCD. The article is titled "The Keys to Working
With Legacy Designs," and we're looking for a PWB designer who is experienced in
dealing with the range of problems associated with legacy designs.

We want to cover the entire legacy process, not just the software issues. How do
you deal with they way the legacy designs were archived? What if you can't still
get the parts on the original BOM? When do you need translation tools?

How do you figure out what needs to be changed, if anything? And how do you
bring a legacy design into your current tool and process? If the legacy design
was v 1.0 and your current tool is v 5.0, do you have to upgrade through v 2.0,
v 3.0 and v 4.0 instead of just going straight to v 5.0? We want to include a
checklist of what to do, what not to do and what to watch out for when working
with legacy designs.

If you're interested in writing this article, contact me offline and I'll give
you the details.

Thanks for your help,
Andy Shaughnessy
