Our company within the last year had pressure form the local OHS
authorities to tighten up our safety policies.  We do hand soldering
primarily, along with mechanical assembly and product testing in our
facility.
All people on the prod floor must wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and in
certain areas, safety toed shoes, and the kicker is everyone must wear
safety glasses.
There was lots of grumbling in the warm summer weather, and the safety
glass policy needed to be strictly enforced to get compliance in that area
as well.  The co. put in funding to pay for basic prescription safety
glasses for all employees, but if you wanted fancy coatings or frames you
paid extra.
