If, by "cleaning", you mean using shop compressed air, you probably contaminate more
than clean, even if the air is desiccated and filtered. Unless you choose ultra-pure
bottled gases with carefully cleaned pipework (a whole story in itself), regulators,
etc., then you are very likely to cause more harm than good. Even then, each time you
pull the trigger, you probably cause surrounding surfaces to raise suspended dust which
will settle on everything (unless you are in a properly maintained clean room, which
should never allow an air movement to disturb the airflow, anyway). Don't know about
the ESD aspects, but my guess is those pretty orange coiled vinyl pipes look pretty
static-generating to me.
