Hi all,

Saw this posting and had to respond. Rule number 1. Auditors don't tell
you how to run your business. ISO requires only that you have a system by
which the need for Statistical techniques be assessed and implemented where
deemed necessary. So long as you have a method of assessing need, you may
assess and determine that you don't need any SPC anywhere. To often
manufactures allow ISO auditors to "run" their business using the ever
popular adage "We do it because ISO says we have to"

I can assure you that is a load of bull... and anyone who is familiar with
ISO knows this. I have established ISO approved quality systems in several
companies now. In addition, I have done this with virtually no on going
added costs. I simply use what is already being done. It is all in how you
document. I have always set up systems with the mind set that less is
better... and it is. After all, I'm a realist, ISO is nothing more than and
selling tool these days. I rank them in the same category as UL. A bunch of
bureaucratic BS that has been imposed in the US for no other reason than to
make the registrars money. After all, the system elements are nothing more
than common sense approach, which any company worth its salt already has
some effective form in place.

Just my thoughts...
