One issue you need to address is volume. My wave is used about once
every week. We waste a lot of flux using a foam fluxer.  You would not
waste as much with a sprayer.

 

Nitrogen is very important. It improves yield and reduces dross.

 

I don't know about the air knife.  Mine does not have one.

I am investigating used wave solder equipment. How important is spray
fluxing versus foam fluxing, also how important is it that the unit have
a hot air knife, and be nitrogen capable. We will only be using it for
assorted thru hole components on mostly surface mount boards that have
been already refolded. I don't anticipate doing any wave soldering of
SMD components.
