ALL,

As ESD Coordinator and QA Manager, I had ESD conductive epoxy applied to our
floor prior to moving in to our present location. I have had experience
with ESD tiles, ESD carpeting and ESD wax application. In terms of
maintenance ALL except the conductive epoxy are maintenance nightmares.

We had the ESD conductive epoxy floor (gray, 0.050" thick) poured now five
years ago. It still looks great. Maintenance is easy. Daily mopping with
a wet mop. Every eight to twelve months buffing to bring back the shine.
On a yearly basis we have the manufacturer come in for conductivity checks
and there has been no degradation.

Remember the true cost of the ESD floor must include your periodic
maintenance costs, manpower and materials.

If at all possible I strongly recommend ESD conductive epoxy, low cost in
the long run.

I would have preferred a poured floor myself, but wasn't given the option.
You
have to do it before you put anything else in the space, but if the
maintenance
requirements hold true (no wax, just mop), it sounds like a dream floor. No
tiles
from a different die lot to replace when they lift, no worn out carpet, no
recharging
a wax, etc. Costly up front, though. Maybe that's why you didn't list that
as an option?

Anyone with any experience with a poured ESD floor?

Subject: [TN] ESD floor wax

Good morning,

We are looking at some new assembly space an we have an opportunity to make
the floor whatever we want. Three options, ESD tiles, ESD carpet or ESD
wax. Regarding the ESD wax, does anyone have opinions about 4500 Staticide
Gold or 4600 Staticide Ultra available from Techni-Tool? Is the 24 month
"wearability" a real number?

If you prefer, offline comments gladly accepted.

Thanks in advance,

Phil Nutting
