Following from Phil's input, I should point out that if you change the
solvent to a MIL Spec qualified coating, you run the risk of rendering the
coating non-qualified.... because you changed the solvent. You really should
check this out with the coating manufacturer before you jump.

As Phil stated, additional issues that will arise involve the way in which
the material cures. We select solvents very carefully to give the best
handling / processing / curing characteristics that will ensure compliant
results with IPC-CC-830 / IPC-A610.

As you know, we also have new water based coatings, but these should NOT be
mixed with anything - not even water! They are pre-blended to suit the given
application method. Perhaps you would be wise in purchasing your coating
pre-blended this way from your supplier?

Thanks for the insights on the "blush" phenomena.  How interesting that it
comes up in the same discussion as your "work naked bonus".

Is there any link between the type of solvent in the coating and blush, or
is it exclusively humidity related?  One project that has been suggested
for me is to replace the toluene and xylene we use as acrylic thinners with
methyl propyl ketone.  If such a switch were made, would you expect a
greater or lesser susceptibility to blush, or is it immaterial (no pun
intended).
