We have evaluated this finish and found it works well with good bonding, and no
pink ring in evidence after processing. The finish is a reddish brown which
appears dark brown after bonding and is similar to black oxide once solder mask
is applied. The chief benefit is that it can be used in horizontal conveyorised
equipment. Vertical application is not recommended although possible. The cost
is claimed to be lower than reduced black oxide and the process more easily
controlled.
