Hi Dave -
Just wondering why 10mm back from the contact point of the thermocouple?

I prefer to use high-temp solder. However, whether you are using high-temp
solder or conductive epoxy, the key to reliability is to remove as much of
the old (low-temp, 63/37) solder that was already at the interconnect using
solder wick or similar. Then attach the TC with either a small amount of
conductive epoxy or flux and wire solder (ie: 10/90). Use a small amount of
either and be sure that the welded end of the TC is in contact with the
interconnect you are measuring.

I will discuss this subject in the "On The Forefront"column in the April
Circuits Assembly magazine.
