    In response to your question regarding the use of LRF for tinning 
    stranded wire, we also are presently using RMA for this operation.  
    We are considering the use of Kester (Hughes) HF1189A flux for this 
    application.  (You do have to clean it, though.) 
    
    There has been a joint study performed on this subject by China 
    Lake, Hughes, and Texas Instruments.  A Department of the Navy 
    memorandum was issued June 15, 1994, which recommends that HF1189A 
    be allowed for the tinning and soldering of stranded wire.
