Well, I will try to answer the best I know:
I'm not sure what you mean by "wear". They are like molded rubber
pushbuttons that have a carbon disk on the back, when you push the button,
the disk makes contact between two gold-plated conductors. Do they wear?
The contact force is someone's finger mashing the button.
The environment is an air-conditioned room full of broadcasting equipment,
so I guess the biggest threat is spilled Diet Pepsi? <grin>
