Good Day Forum:
This survey Ron again. As many of you on the forum have now figured,
we are in a transition period to a No-clean/Low-Residue Soldering
Solution. Initial evaluations have pointed toward implementing a
water based, VOC free, flux. The flux we tested was Kester's 973
flux. Looking down the road, it would seem that environmentalists
will eventually ask for further reductions in VOCs.
The question for the forum is "How many of you wave solderers are
using a water based VOC free (No-clean/Low-Residue) flux in your wave
soldering processes?"
If you would like to share your satisfaction with the results of this
flux I would appreciate it very much.
We are looking at convection heating to eliminate moisture and have
had excellent results (solderballing/spattering ...etc...).
Thanks in advance for your help.
Ron Hollandsworth
