Daan,

My thoughts are:

Have you collected data proving reliable shoe straps, floor mats,
workbenches and chairs? If so, provide that to the customer stating this is
the best method for your operation.

If you've had failures due to current ESD methods, they may be justified, if
it is just their concern, it may be because they don't understand your
current ESD methods.

My bet is they have always used, or had witnessed wrist straps, so they
believe that is the most effective means, prove to them your method is
equally effective.

Subject: [TN] Wrist wraps for seated operators

Hello Technet,

We've recently received some complaints from a customer who is not happy
with the fact that our operators don't wear wrist wraps during seated
operations like handsoldering and inspection. Our factory relies on
grounding through the (conductive) chairs, ESD-shoes, conductive floor and
ESD-workbenches, but the chairs are tested only once per year, which is
obviously less frequent then one would test wrist wraps.
Is the customers concern justified, and should we introduce wrist wraps ?
