Try this method using a scrap board first to get a feeling of the fine details. Mask board area around the connector with hi temp tape or other material. Preheat board in an oven. Place board on a solder wave fixture. Have one person slide the fixture over the wave till connector is right over the solder and another pull up gently and easy the connector after about 8 seconds.

Ramon

Subject: Re: [TN] Removal of Connector
Hi Technetters,
I am facing an issue with a board of 10 layers and 2mm thick, gold plated.
I need to remove a 72 pin through hole connector. However, I am not able to
remove the connector using solder iron & solder sucker.
I understand if I am to use solder pot, I should be able to remove it. But
I do not have a mini-solder pot.
I am wandered if there is other way to take out the connector. Can someone
help to advise me other methods to remove the connector.
Thanks.
Poh
