We just started running a new 500M SMDII with powerview500 on a PC.
The software manual is 26 pages long, mostly pictures. This and
another 25 pages of the operators manual is all thats needed.
By far the most difficult task will be reading the hydrometer. The
dos based software takes care of everything else. The windows
version is probably even easier but not really needed.

It takes about 20mins to train a lab tech type person on ths
calibration and maintenance procedures.
The operators are regular line type people, with about 5mins of
training both before mask and after final inspection.

The machine also seems to be extremely well built.

Is there a museum somewhere that could use a circa 1979 Omega Meter II
model 300.
