Or environmental protection, weatherization, etc... I like it... protection
from tropical zone weather conditions, includes rain, salt fog,
micro-organisms... i.e. mold, mildew, etc., condensation...ozone, sunlight
oxidation... etc. Have had to deal with those parameters in outdoor
electronic enclosures for the SatCom industry...
Main items of concern, use non-organic materials things that are
non-nutrient materials for molds and spores, conformal coating of PCA
assemblies can drastically improve the life of the PCA and put the card in a
enclosure that protects it from the weather, desiccant in the sealed
enclosure with a gortex breather gasket that can pass air but not moisture
is a help in equalizing the outside air pressure differentials... adequate
heat sinking of course, .... don't paint the box black and sit it in the
sun.... stuff like that... ;)

hi,

it seems to be a term that is used commonly in europe.

'tropicalisation
(increased protection against corrosion and condensation)'
