We've been using a robotic soldering system from Automation Unlimited, Inc.,
with good success. Once programmed, the system directs a Metcal soldering iron
to each connector lead, soldering each individually. The program regulates
iron position, dwell at each lead, solder feed and how often the iron returns
to the home position for for tip cleaning. It works great. Automation
Unlimited will even develop your programs for you (for a slight fee).
