We manufacture high reliability boards including metal core PCB's. We make PCB's with both Aluminium core as well as Copper core. Our customers have been asking us which one to choose. Though we have been telling them that it depends on the design and thermal analysis, with the boards becoming more and more complex with BGA's and SMD's which one will be preferable? Will there be any difference on the reliability of the boards processed between aluminium and copper especially due to the difference in the CTE. We use Aluminium 6061. Can anyone give a feedback on this. Any inputs related to this will be appreciated
