The only way to remove solder from gold (assuming it is fully wetted) is to
strip all the underlying gold off the finger and replate. The solder will have
dissolved much of the gold (if not all) under the joint, forcing replating of
the finger anyway.

There are commercial strippers and plating solutions available (I saw some adds
a few years ago) that can strip and replate that one finger and avoid scrapping
the panel..

Does anyone have information on how to repair gold edge connectors which
have solder on them? I remember a product or service from the late 70's or
early 80's which purported to fix this. Can anyone shed some light on the
subject? I have seen the defect repaired by reflowing with Au80/Sn20 but I
am unsure of the long term reliability of this method.
Thanks,
