The proposed cable/wire harness document has been renumbered. It is now IPC/WHMA-A-620, following the concept of A-600 and A-610; we're looking to start a "box-build" A-690 top level standard. (Anyone interested in participating contact me off-net please.)

A-620 is now 19 chapters; more than 95% complete. A working group consisting of the core members is meeting March 21-22 for final tweaks and review of illustrations. Goal is to have it to ballot by the end of May. Pre-APEX drafts can be downloaded from the IPC FTP site. Skip the FTP software and just use either Internet Explorer or Netscape browsers. (AOL's built-in browser won't work; users should log on to AOL and then launch either IE or Netscape for the download--either browser on top of AOL runs faster than the builtin browser anyway.) In the URL line of the browser enter ONLY: 216.203.210.37 and when the FTP site opens, select the folder 620-WireDocs. Use your browsers' procedure for downloading (right click on WinTel machines.) Warning--some of the files are >2 MB so slow modems aren't recommended. Jack
