I agree with Andy. We have some qualified lotions out on our
manufacturing floor and their primary purpose is to improve the
conductivity between dry skin and wrist strap. Winters here get down to
10-15% RH and hands get really dry (as soon as they thaw out).

Bryan,
Most of our problems have been between the strap and the wrist (dry skin)
or the snaps themselves. If the snaps aren't tight, you may get
intermittent alarms.
IC lotion and conductive buttons between the snaps has taken care of most
of our problems. Many operators won't wear the wrist strap snug enough.
The alarms keep everyone honest.
The alarm confirms your ground is lost. Without the monitor all those
daily lost grounds go unattended potentially damaging product.

Subject: [TN] Wrist strap continuous monitoring
Hi Folks
Any consensus on the usefulness of continuous wrist strap monitoring ? I
have been running a pilot line and have had a lot of problems due to
constant alarms. Can't, at the moment, figure out if this is just a true
reflection on variation in operator grounding or some failings in the
monitoring system. Any experiences out there ?
Regards
Bryan Kerr
