"too thin" the PCB, the wall of the press-fit holes might crack but if it is the customers who define the stack-up and design the PCB, they will have to study into the per pin insertion force (and total number of pins within each compliant pin connector, too) to ensure it meets connector supplier specification. E.g. Tyco VPX connector will goes for 25um to 50um copper wall thick.

The IPC 5-21M Committee which is developing the IPC-9797 press-fit spec "recommends" a 1.5-4mm board thickness.

Design and acceptability criteria may require a thicker or thinner board.
