    Dear Ted ,

I am interested to know more about how you apply the ANOVA in your
daily process optimisation .Can you enlighten on this aspects .

          Thanks

>I HAVE USED (AND QUITE SUCCESSFULLY) ANOVA MAINLY FOR EITHER R&D
>(DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL CONDITIONS) OR TROUBLE SHOOTING PROCESSES
>(ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS MORE THAN 1 PROCESS SUSPECT OF CAUSING A
>PROBLEM).
>
>HOWEVER I HAVE NEVER TRIED TO USE IT AS A SOLE MEANS TO DETERMINE PROCESS
>CAPABILITY AND REPEATABILITY.

>I HAVE FOUND X BAR AND R CHARTS THE BEST TO DO THIS FUNCTION. THEY GIVE YOU
>THE BEST "PICTURE" OF WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON IN YOUR PROCESS, AND IF ANY

>I DO THINK THAT ANOVA CAN BE USED AS A SUPPLEMENTARY TOOL TO X BAR AND R
>CHARTS. PERFORMING DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS (DOE) AND ENTERING THE DATA INTO A
>DOE SOFTWARE CAN SHOW YOU OPTIMAL CONDITIONS; THOSE PROCESSES OR ITEMS

>THIS DATA CAN BE USED TO MAKE POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS, AND THE X BAR AND R
