Hi Gaby,
Except for severe vibrational environments in low temperatures, there really
is no down-side from a reliability perspective. Consider that you have at
least two sides, the wider ones I take it, with good wetting in a plated-
through hole which from a relaibility point-of-view is overdesigned. SMT only
gives you one wetted side with no other mechanical support redundancies.
