Marty,
There's a good reason actually. This assembly is a test set for CCA's.
According to the test folks I'm working with, they don't want to screw
in/out jackscrews every time they load a CCA and attach the connectors. They
just want to slide the connectors on and off. Hence the idea to rivet the
test connectors and backshells together. My other options are welding (no
way), glue (sounds too long and messy for me), etc. Rivets seem like the
best choice.
What I'm looking for here is the rivet equivalent of a #2 screw. Something
a subcontract vendor will be able to procure cheaply or already have on
hand, and install cheaply and easily. I've installed pop-rivets myself. Load
one in the gun, slide the protruding end through the holes of the mated
parts, squeeze the trigger, done. Easy and effective, that's what I'm
looking for.
