     Larry,
We have this same condition and have had no problems making the
pads long enough to accommodate both parts. We center the solder paste
on the pads and have no problems with auto-placement and reflow.

Subject: Footprint Pattern

I'm a pcb designer. I have a customer that needs the option of using either
a .3 wide or .4 wide 32 pin j-leaded part in the same location.

These are only prototype boards and small quantity. Probably won't be reflowed.

Question:

In order to accomodate both parts the footprint is going to be extra long.
What problems will be encountered soldering the part to the board? Will the
solder wickup onto the j-lead properly?

Any suggestions?
