I HAVE USED (AND QUITE SUCCESSFULLY) ANOVA MAINLY FOR EITHER R&D
(DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL CONDITIONS) OR TROUBLE SHOOTING PROCESSES
(ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS MORE THAN 1 PROCESS SUSPECT OF CAUSING A
PROBLEM).

HOWEVER I HAVE NEVER TRIED TO USE IT AS A SOLE MEANS TO DETERMINE PROCESS
CAPABILITY AND REPEATABILITY.

I HAVE FOUND X BAR AND R CHARTS THE BEST TO DO THIS FUNCTION. THEY GIVE YOU
THE BEST "PICTURE" OF WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON IN YOUR PROCESS, AND IF ANY
CHANGES MADE HAVE MADE - WHETHER THERE IS AN IMPROVEMENT OR VISE VERSA.

I DO THINK THAT ANOVA CAN BE USED AS A SUPPLEMENTARY TOOL TO X BAR AND R
CHARTS. PERFORMING DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS (DOE) AND ENTERING THE DATA INTO A
DOE SOFTWARE CAN SHOW YOU OPTIMAL CONDITIONS; THOSE PROCESSES OR ITEMS
THAT MOST AFFECT AN OUTCOME YOU ARE EXPERIMENTING FOR; AND THE EFFECT OF
INTERACTION BETWEEN ITEMS.

THIS DATA CAN BE USED TO MAKE POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS, AND THE X BAR AND R
CHARTS YOUR MEASUREMENT OF THOSE IMPROVEMENTS.

IF YOU NEED FURTHER HELP PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME OFFLINE.
