Hi Mike!

I must say, designing in a LED to be used like that is rather "creative", to
say the least...

I've never heard of a LED specifically designed to be used that way. But if
you go to:

There you'll find full color RCB surface mount LED's. These are leaded LED's
that possibly you have a hole in the PCB with the diameter just slightly
larger than the LED, then have pads layed-out right next to the hole, and
then install the LED upside down into the hole...you'll get solder joints at
the tips of the leads.

These will probably need to be hand placed since they will come in tape and
reel rightside up...
