Dear Technetters,
In the course of evaluation of some production sites, I am faced with a new
(to me) phylosophy for managing production throughput and would appreciate
your opinion / experience:
This PCB shop manufactures from DS PTH through Multilayers from 5 days up,
QTA and no QTA prototypes to small to medium batches.
The phylosophy here is to divid the about 40 processes of the shop floor
into 7 groups, a cart with a quantity representing one day work load will
be given to each group with the objective of processing it through the day,
theoritically the cycle time will be 7 days...
In addition, a much smaller cart will carry QTA and have a faster cycle
time...
I am a bit puzzled with this system has I have no reference on such a
system as we were using Paradigm / Cimnet Systems Inc. for years and
following up with its phylosophy with good results.
Best Regards
