God bless America.

This question comes from the ongoing push to lead-free soldering. It is
accepted that temperatures will be higher, and that solders will have a
higher Tin content than in the past...

I have heard (from people that I trust) that the higher temperatures, and
higher tin content in lead free solders, are going to play hell with wave
solder pots. High Tin content solders at higher temperatures, tend to "eat
through" stainless steel, and may even require replacement of wave solder
pots on a yearly basis...yikes!!!

Have any of you heard of this?

I've also heard (through the grape-vine) that there is somebody out there
that has developed some sort of coating or treatment that is done to the
pots, that will extend pot-life with higher temperature, lead free, high tin
content solder pots...is this true?
