The clamping of the screw/washer will provide sufficient surface adhesion to
prevent oxidation and fretting.
The solder paste would for m a drop and prvevnt a surface clamp. It would be
a tangental contact. Not desirable.
Re: Question 2.
As long as the hole dimension is consistent with the connector manufacturers
specification, a gas tight connection will be made.
A couple of years using Entek has not produced problems.
