As I understand it Immersion Silver is a self limiting process. It
reaches some (5 to 15 micro inches) thickness and stops. What you don't
want is a porous coating. I don't know if the test for Gold porosity
would work. I expect not, it is chemical and silver will react.

Due to some fine pitch components and a couple of BGA' s on my boards, I
am looking into changing the finish from HASL to Immersion Silver. The
fabricator has asked what thickness of Silver I would like. Is there an
IPC spec that governs this?
