WE have a Westek in-line water cleaner, it is plastic, but i would prefer
stainless. The cleaning agent is Aquanox SSA. One thing about in-line
cleaners is that you have to keep watch every day over it and perform
required maintenance. We have a Kyzen RO system. Any cleaning system
requires removal of waste. Taking out rinse waste and disposing of it as it
is is a volumous disposal. We have a Conceptronics batch cleaner attached to
the RO concentrate stream to boil away the water. A water evaporator would
also do the job. The batch cleaner evaporates
2 gallons of water per hour. Since the Aquanox has a much higher boiling
point than water, none of it goes out the stack. The final rinse section
uses DI water and is a circulating ion exchange system. When things are
working right, the anion and cation tanks last a month before regeneration
is needed. We monitor the conductivity and refractive index of the final
rinse and RO tanks to keep purities of solutions high.

Don't know what your budget is, but EMC makes a pretty good in-line cleaner
for not too much $. As for chemistry, Aquasonic from JNJ Industries
(www.jnj-industries.com) does a great job on RMA's, and can even go through
DI beds without harm to the beds.
