Hi everyone,

By request of my esteemed colleague Steve Gregory, P.J. and I visited J.T. Schmidt's Microbrewery/restaurant in Anaheim. Below is our critique and recommendations for our Apex get together.

LOCATION: It's a few miles from the convention center, across from the Arrowhead Pond, Home of the Mighty Ducks. Those who are without a rental car might find it difficult to get to.

PARKING: There was an event opening at the pond, so parking was strained, yet they did reserve spaces for restaurant customers.

MENU: I've e-mailed Steve with a copy of the menu to post on his site. I thought the value was weak for the prices posted. There are 2 menus available, a "regular" menu where there is quite a variety to choose and an "event" menu used when something is going on at the pond (concert, game, etc.) which is quite limited.

FOOD: We had the artichoke cheese dip appetizer, which was above average, yet so was the price. P.J. had the "The Wedge" which was 1/3 head of iceberg lettuce with an excellent bleu cheese dressing. This was probably "par" pricing. I had the Brew House Cheddar Burger which came with lots of shoestring fries, but frankly, it wasn't anything to write home about and for $7.95, Burger King would have been a close runner up.

BEER: We had a sampler ( a very small glass of each variety) and it seemed to cover both our preferences from one extreme to the other, and we overlap very little. At $7.50 for the equivalent of about one glass, I was disappointed they didn't follow other local microbreweries and credit it back if each person ordered a large glass of their favorite.

OVERALL: I was not impressed and felt it was a bit overpriced and hard for pedestrian attendees to get to.

SUGGESTION: Downtown Disney is within walking distance of the convention center. We're both Disney fans and visit "Downtown Disney" regularly when exercising our annual passes (she buys me one for my birthday). I highly recommend any of the restaurants at http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dlr/listing/parkContentType?id=DTDParkDiningListingPage&initialContent=Dining
and we could gather at the Uva Bar in the center of the courtyard. It's a nice patio area which serves drinks and appetizers.

Steve's the one doing the coordination, so I'll hand the mike over to him...
