     John,

     As Chairman of the committee responsible for this document, I feel a
     certain "ownership" to this problem. At our last meeting in Naples,
     the committee members identified various formulae with either printing
     errors (subscript or superscript) or outright errors. It's difficult
     to trace how the outright errors occur, especially after the fact.

     Now that you know all this, I've taken to looking through some
     references here and none have "embedded microstrip". I can find only
     microstrip or stripline or generic notations.

     If you'd like copies of what I have, please email me individually or
     call. In the meantime, I'll keep looking!

     Happy Holidays to all the `Net community!!!

     Regards,

     Tom

     REF IPC-D-317A:

     In section 5.5.2.1, there appears to be an error in the theoretical
     calculated capacitance.

     If I use nominal values for equation (5.35):

     DK = 4.5
     H = 0.020
     T = 0.0012

     I try to take a ln of a negative number.

     Can someone enlighten me as to what the correct equation should be?

     TIA,
