Rudy Shubert at Bellcore did considerable published work, ca. late
1980's early 1990's, on fretting corrosion of Au/Au (the best),
Au/Sn (the worst) and Sn/Sn (pretty good) contacts. I have the
reference somewhere, but I'd have to dig pretty deep to retrieve it.

I don't know if this is a particular problem with SIMM's, but it
can lead to high contact resistances with pcb finger contacts
in high-vibration environments, and hence electrical unreliability.
