Rudy Shubert at Bellcore did considerable published work, ca. late 1980's early 1990's, on fretting corrosion of Au/Au (the best), Au/Sn (the worst) and Sn/Sn (pretty good) contacts. I have the reference somewhere, but I'd have to dig pretty deep to retrieve it. I don't know if this is a particular problem with SIMM's, but it can lead to high contact resistances with pcb finger contacts in high-vibration environments, and hence electrical unreliability. ---------- > From: Lee McCuistion <[log in to unmask]> > To: [log in to unmask] > Subject: [TN] Mating Tin / Gold; SIMMs and sockets > Date: Tuesday, February 24, 1998 5:01 AM > > Ok, > Who has some technical details, study, or white paper on the validity > of, or problems with mating tinned fingered SIMMs with gold contact > sockets or visa-versa?
