I hate to tell you this, but there are not any IPC standards on solder joints
in a thru hole assembly of single-sided PCB (no PTH).
The only thing that somewhat acknowledges the much less robust nature of these
solder joints relative to the PTH-solder joints is very recent in ANSI/J-
STD-001B, October 1996, where in paragraph 6.5.3.1 it is stated: "As an
exception to the requirements of 6.5.3, lead terminations in unsupported holes
(non-plated through-holes) shall be clinched a minimum of 45 degrees and the
lead protrusion for unsupported holes shall be 0.5 mm minimum and must not
yiolate minimum electrical spacing requirements." ALL other IPC documents
simply require the same of unsupported hole and PTH solder joints.
