My thoughts as follows :
> You need to be careful with Zahn cups from Gardco. They have a industry standard Zahn cup series and their own Zahn cup "signature series". The latter is new and improved however will not provide the same valves as the standard Zahn cup.
> I remember reading somewhere that a good Zahn cup range should be 20 -40 second. < 20 seconds and GR&R is poor due to reaction times and operator error being too high. >45 seconds and too long for most people's attention span.

Subject: [TN] Viscosity Cups
Good afternoon all,
I have a silly question. We conformally coat using a common solvent based acrylic coating. One process control method is to periodically measure coating viscosity using a Zahn #2 cup, which works well for this particular coating that has about a 55-60 second flow. I am finding that when this coating is thinned down for spray, the times are down in the 15-18 second range and the variation is increasing.
So, my question - is there a style of viscosity dip cup, e.g. Ford, DIN, etc., that is more amenable to thin viscosity coatings? It is understood that a precision instrument like a Brookfield viscometer would be preferrable, but production is NOT going to let me get a few dozen of them.
Thanks.
