I have never seen anything in writing and having worked at Western
Electric/Bell Labs and Naval Avionics during the time when they were at their peaks - I
was spoiled with the caliber and number of support people.

Today when I visit customers there is such a range from one chemist who takes
care of all plating and wet chemistry operations to separate departments for
incoming inspection labs, process labs and final product labs.  Some smaller
shops rely on their chemisty suppliers - some shops let labs such as us do
their final product evaluation.
