Hi Ed!
I don't think it really is a standard, but because most of the pick-and-place
equipment I've ever worked with requires a 5mm X 5mm hole if you're using
tooling pins...all Japanese machines...FUJI, Philips (aka Yamaha), and
Zevatech (aka JUKI).
