We are actively looking at buying an AOI machine for our SMT line (post reflow). We have done some preliminary work and have narrowed our choices down to two machines, Omron (VT-S500) and Mirtec (MV-7). Omron is algorithm based while the Mirtec is image based. We've been very impressed with Omron's ability to evaluate solder joints; however we're concerned about programming time as we are a low volume high mix assembly shop. I would appreciate input on those who have experience with either of these machines. Feel free to contact me offline. Thanks.
Regards,
Steve Vargas
