In case anyone is interested, we are going on ADSL at home at the end of this
month. I can't get it at work, have to be within 3 miles of central office.
The cost,
Intro hookup about $150 (Phone Co and ISP)
Additional ISP charges (+10/mo)
Loss of roaming access. Operates only from home modem. Need another
account to access while traveling.
Figure total charge about 1200/year more as I have to keep my old account for
traveling.
Advantages - (supposed)
Always on line,
Phone and Fax work concurrently
Fast (supposedly up to 384K download speed) compared to dialup
Doesn't slow down between 6 pm and 10 pm when everyones on line.
Makes my impatient honey happy.
