Netters: I am cochair of an IPC committee that is developing an acceptability
standard on Cable/Harness assemblies (sort of like IPC-A-610, except dedicated
to cables/wires/ harness assemblies). At our last meeting in Tempe, AZ (look
ma, no snow) we decided that (in order to be politically correct, not to
mention complying with the IPC mandate for "hard metric" standards) we needed
to provide a description of wires sizes in Metric as well as AWG. Problem is,
after appealing to cohorts in the UK, we are unable to come up with a ready
reference which will relate AWG to a metric wire gauge (MWG) equivalent.
Anyone who can provide cross reference information between AWG and MWG will
receive a gold star (figuratively speaking). Anyone with info can reply to
directly Ralph Hersey or Jim Moffitt, or to TechNet.
- Thanks in advance for the help and assistance. Jim Moffitt
