Hi Bev:

Just to put my two cents in, you are asking a question that is difficult to
apply to all circumstances.  Involved would be size of part, type of part,
type of flux, wetting angle of cleaning solution etc.  However, in my
experience, a good place to start an evaluation of your conditions would be
in the range of 15 to 20 mils standoff.  Hope this helps.
