LPISM specifications are not more or less the same. Even with the PSR
4000 series, our fabricator recommended using the -BN? or the Ciba -
Probimer 52 only for PWB's with immersion gold after soldermask
application.
Cheers,
Greg

Subject: [TN] PCB Material Change -Reply
Kathy,
Di-functional is being replaced by tetra-functional pcb epoxy
resin. Tetra provides a better mechanical stability amd 10'c
higher Tg than Di. Di is used usually for double side pcb
only,
and Tetra is for double and multi-layer boards. You should get
a
better performance with Tetra.
No idea with solder masks, Just go for it and fix problem later
if
it ever happens (Opps.. just kidding OK?). Try sample boards
with Tamura DSR2200 and then go for it. I am sure any LPISM
specification is more or less same with any other.

Currently our PCB house is using a lamination material called
Nanya
di-functional, and are requesting to change to Nanya
Tetra-functional.
They would also like to change the soldermask they use from
Taiyo PSR 4000
to Tamura DSR 2200.
They state they have run extensive tests and found the
substitute
materials
to be as good or better than the current material they use.
Since I am not familiar with these materials I was wondering if
any of you
technetters have any comments with regards to whether you
think this would
be an acceptable change or not.
You input with regards to this matter is, as always, greatly
appreciated!!
Thanks,
Kathy Palumbo
