Interesting ;
any good, bad, and ugly stories , anybuddy ?
Kathy ? ; do you have all the thousands of stencils individually framed ?
We've noticed here on first delivery there is a problem with delivery as
well :
When tensioned if it gets poked you see imprint ;
without tension it would be fine ; apart from cheaper .
Can you roll this things (SS) to say 6" tube and mail ?
Or would the planarity of apertures suffer ?
Wouldn't on polyimides I'd presume ? (how many cycles those things live ?)
thanks (Steve) again (All) paul

Hi ya' Pardner!
The frame has springs on all four sides that are compressed by an air
pressure bladder inside the frame when you go to load the foil. Then as the
foil is positioned inside the frame, the air pressure is released allowing
the springs to tension the foil on all four sides. You'll spend a bit
up-front for the frame, but it'll pay back quickly from the reduced costs
for
your stencils.
If you go to:
http://www.alphametals.com/products/techarticles/soldrpstncl/inlinearticle3.
pdf
, there's a *.PDF article there that gets into all the details and explains
it better than I can....these stencils do work! In fact, I'm gonna try to
let
the bosses let me go to that system at my present company, we're starting to
run outta space. Plus being in Tulsa, there ain't too many stencil companies
close by, so everything has to get shipped in at a pretty penny...I got
spoiled in California 'cause the places I used there I could get my stencils
delivered by a driver like ya' can a pizza...hehehe.
As far as cleaning goes, ultrasonics is the way to go. At my last place I
had
a PMR Systems cleaner...much cheaper than Smart Sonics and did the job just
fine. Doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" that a Smart Sonics has, but
in my opinion, you don't need em'. Has a separate wash and rinse tank, a
solder paste filter that you clean out regularly, and then downstream from
that you can get 10-micron filters that keep you from having to change the
water out so much. In the year that I was at my last place, I changed the
water 3 times and that was it. Does great with no clean pastes and epoxy
too.
I also had the optional evaporator that you can get with it so nothing went
to drain, the dried residue that I had in my evaporator after boiling my
dirty water off I would put in my wave solder dross bucket and send it on
it's merry way. You can check the system out at:
