John,
In a previous life I worked for a company which had a design rule required
adding a .375" dia circle, concentric with the local fiducial for an active
SMT part on both the primary and secondary sides in silkscreen. The circle
was not required to be a full circle merely enough of a dia to indicate
these locations indicating where an "X-out" sticker was to be placed.
They then applied this "skip dot", which was a .312" dia "Avery brand"
label type material which apparently was robust enough to withstand reflow
and washing!
I don't have the part number these stickers, perhaps you might want to
contact Avery office products I believe they are in Diamond Bar CA.
I hope this works for you!
Regards,
Mike

Subject: [TN] Reflow/water resistant sticker dots

We as you all have X'ed out boards which run through our lines.
Our machinery will recognize a white or bright yellow dot as a bad board
and automatically skip that offset in the programs.

Paper dots go through the reflow just fine but in the water wash they fall
apart and would clog up the wash after a period of time.

We can use a white marker which is permanent and hand draw a dot on every
board but now the problem is as human beings go. Some make big dots and
some put specks on which the machines may or may not recognize.

Any suggestions?????

Thanks
